Peer Pressure

Yahoo! Yet another one of those serious posts..

But there's a difference.. I ain't got the energy to write so much today. Just alittle something to let you blog readers to have something to ponder upon.

-----------------------------------------------------

My work just ended, a tad short of the 3 weeks I planned. But that doesn't matter cause I got my $$$, and that's what's important.

Next week's my ANE XI Training camp. So much paper work to handle and nearly none of it touched. So cool.

Today's the 14th of October. My school re-opens on the 31th. That's like.. 17 days to go. Let's just hope Semester 4 (Year 2's ending!!) is as bad as this one.. (3rd Semester). My GPA dropped by a full point, and granted that the maximum GPA one can get is 4, dropping by one is a HECK of a lot.

Movin' on.

-----------------------------------------------------

Why do I work on this topic? Simple. It's the classic! It happens everyday, everywhere, since nearly when humans became "civilised" (We'll talk more about civilisation in another post).

But the main reason is partially due to the fact that I get to observe it happening first-handedly. Through something like less than a month, someone i knew changed like mad (For the good, I suppose, 'cause he became much more better-looking and confident. Cool in a way.). Change is good, but only when taken in small portions.

Let it grow outta hand, and an inflated ego is what you got.

There's this dude whom I know who used to be very conservative financially. That could be partially due to the fact that he's nearly broke the whole time, but granted what i knew of him, I doubt so. However, due to peer pressure, he's crumbled, and none of that thriftiness is left.

First up, his dress-style used to be shit. (True, I poked fun at him, hoping to make him dress better, which he did, and was good). His hair-style was shit too (Imagine Rock Lee's watermelon bowl cut). What he did was to get it high-lighted, but the expense of doing so was a tad bit outrageous. But fine, spending a little extra trying to look good hurts nobody, and it turned out great!

Until recently he tried to go further. He wanted to get a new pair of spectacles. The reason? He said: "My eyesight's gotten worse, so I wanted to change them". Real reason? His spectacles wasn't exactly what we'd call.. "fashionable". So he wanted to change them, to something like frame-less, which is the "in" thing nowadays.

I had my mis-givings about that, but since it was his decision, and that he gave the "excuse" of having a worsened eyesight, I shut my mouth and kept my peace.

But in the end he didn't get a new pair of glasses. Why? From what I heard his parents disapproved. I don't know if he managed to persuade them after that, but he wasn't given the green to go ahead and get that new pair of frame-less specs.

That's already pushing the line.

-----------------------------------------------------

Okay, before we go on, all those "fashion-must-come-first" people? Listen up. SHUT YOUR TRAP. I don't wanna get opinions like "It's ok to look good by owning several pairs of glasses.". Shit like that is fine when you're having a stable income and have no need to feed others. Don't talk that kinda shit especially if you're using your Dad's or Mom's cash to do so. Fine if you disagree. Just keep your peace and S.T.F.U.

-----------------------------------------------------

Then later on, in another incident, we got into a little quarrel over his decision of getting a license. No problem! Having a extra skill to add to your resume is great! But hey: we're in Singapore dude? Everything here costs alittle extra? Getting a license will cost you at least 3 grand (that's in Sing dollars, mind you). Unless you pass on your FIRST try. Which is impossible unless you have all the good luck in the world to get an instructor that is neither strict nor greedy. (By failing people he keeps his rice bowl, ok? 'Cause he's helping the driving centres earn their keep. Therefore they keep him. Some may even go under-the-table to ensure that these instructors meets a quota of failing a certain number of people every month. Heck! We never know?)

And he's not exactly from a rich family? I would consider his family barely at the middle-income family 'cause from what I know, his family earns just enough per month to get by.

Oh. So he's got a job to pay for his own stuff. Yeah. Cool. What about per-month-basis, where you need those extra bucks to feed yourself daily, and what about transportation fees? Ain't that money put to better use by keeping it and using it later?

-----------------------------------------------------

"Wants" and "Needs". Apparently people nowadays have lived so luxuriously that they have totally forgotten the two basic values to consider before making a purchase.

So what if people makes comments about you? Don't bother: Look those people in the eyes, and tell them to S.T.F.U. Especially so when you've already decided to do things YOUR way. Then don't contradict yourself by saying stupid shit like "Hey guys, I want your input/opinions/comments on this/that/whatever.". Go make your own decisions.

Learn to be alittle different. Must everyone look and sound and think the same? Go make robots instead then. Humans aren't meant to be alike. Everyone's unique.

Peer pressure? People who gets infected by it are just pure shit. Especially when they can't differentiate between genuine advice and peer pressure.

Stop contradicting yourselves, Hypocrites. And stay away from me.

-----------------------------------------------------

People who think you know who I'm writing about? Think all you want. Come ask me if you will. I ain't telling names. That person is just pure fiction 'cause he ain't worth naming. The above-mentioned dude isn't my friend. I lost that friend sometime back.

Sorry all..

To people who read this, and people who don't:

You know who you are. Those of you out there, whom I've "hurt" in one way or another, intentionally or otherwise.

...
I'm sorry.
...

There's not alot which I can say to this, because even this apology is unfair to all those who should be getting a much more well-deserved, sincere apology.. but somehow.. I don't have the guts to face you guys and say it out loud.. Forgive me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No written word can express myself.

So tired.

Well heck. It's once again nearly another month since my last post.. And it wasn't much of a post at all.. Would've liked to post more often, but I just can't find the time/effort to put into writing a post.. (Unless I decided to go bonkers and start shooting off "Ultimate short posts" again)

In the "short" period of 2 months, so many things have happened.. I'm beginning to feel the wear and tear of Time itself.

Yep! It's once again Semester break! Year 2 Semester 1 is over!! I'm half-way through my tertiary studies!!! All it takes is another 1 Year + (approximately) and poof, I'm kicked outta Polytechnic and into the cold, harsh world (or wherever my next stop maybe).

*I really hate recounting this semester 'cause it just SUCKED big time! I can only hope my next semester is better..*

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Small event: I lost my wallet! (Or at least, nearly did). Met a kind soul that day. The fella apparently submitted the wallet to the bus captain as a "Lost-and-found" item, without touching any of the belongings within! (There's about $100 in the wallet along with other stuff alright? I know it may be "peanuts" to some of you people, so, if it truly is "peanuts" to you, Shush! Go away and enjoy your luxurious life elsewhere. I'm having financial problems and i don't need people flaunting their wealth around me. Thank you very much.).

*Wonder if I could ever resist the temptation like that? Hmm...*

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright! Time to play with fire! Racism!

Okay. Just kidding of course. But here's a.. "racist" joke which I don't really find racist, but amusing. So.. if you're gonna be offended, skip it ok? It's just a joke, take it with a pinch of salt:

Long before this world became as we knew it, Earth was nothing but barren land. Nuwa (A goddess from Chinese Mythology) decided to create life on earth due to her benevolence. She made the lands fertile, created great bodies of water, and basically shaped the world into the "wondrous" place as we know it today (For the Christians, think Genesis). To complete her work, she finally made humans out of mud itself, so the first humans were pretty much "Mud dolls" running around.

When everything was accomplished, Nuwa sat back and took a break, reveling in her glorious creations. However, she was greatly annoyed by one thing: The way humans looked so "black and muddy". So she decided to do something about it.

She set about creating a HUGE expanse of "magic water", which would cleanse the humans and give their skin a fairer shade (Think bleaching agents, detergent. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if these Gods/Goddesses are actually aliens from outer space). And then she summoned the entire Human race to go forth and cleanse themselves within the "magic water".

A batch of humans arrived first, and happy to clean themselves of the "mud" which is their birthright, they dived into the water and had a great time, and by the time they got out, they were pinkish/pale in complexion. These are the Caucasians.

The second batch of humans arrived, but as they were late, the "magic water" has already lost some of its effects and is rather "dirty". But still, eager to cleanse themselves of the mud that pigments their skin, they dived into the water as well, cleaning and scrubbing themselves to the best of their abilities. When they came out of the water, they were yellowish/tan in complexion. These are the Asians.

And finally, the final batch of humans arrived, but to their dismay, the "magic water" has lost nearly all of its magical properties. To keep things fair for one another, they discussed about their situation before finally deciding to grant everyone a chance to wash up; but only to clean the palms and feets. These are the Indians (and the Malays).

*Note: Before you guys fire at me for being racist: please remember! It is only a harmless joke and there is no offense anywhere within the text! Also, note that only the Indians and Malays discussed before jumping into the waters, showing their community spirit.*

*Also, I agree that calling "Asians" and leaving out the Indians and Malays seem wrong, but.. let's just leave it that way for reference sake, alright? At the most we can always call them "Northern Asians" and "Southern Asians".. which doesn't sound very wrong to me.*

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright! And yeah thanks PH for your webby. I didn't access my blog in awhile, so... apologies alright?

SP people: good luck in your exams! And enjoy the upcoming semester break =)

P.S.: Don't think I have to repeat this, but, this blog makes fun of everything under the sun, be it race or religion. No offense directed at any party, just remember to take the jokes with a pinch of salt. And have fun. =)

Took me 40 minutes to write this post. Ack!
